Cool facts about cool animals

So, the first set of "Cool" Facts I'm posting is about monkeys, for my little sister.

So, here goes: Did you know that when monkeys yawn it's sometimes because they are tired, and sometimes because they are mad?

The orangutan is the largest fruit-eating animal in the world and it rarely comes out of the trees.

All monkeys like to be clean so they have a barber monkey clean out their fur. The barber monkey's payment is the bugs in its customer's hair.

Gross huh boo? Lol. Here's the link :http://mrevolutionmaster.tripod.com/id4.html Thank you!

Next, how about CATS!

Groups of kittens are “kindles,” while groups of adult cats are “clowders.”

Cats weigh an average of 12 pounds. The heaviest cat on record weighed nearly 47 pounds. The lightest was one pound, eight ounces.

Cats will spend about a third of the day grooming. The process is helped along by the backwards-facing spikes on their tongues. Now you know why it feels like being rubbed with sandpaper when they lick you.

Thank you to : http://www.bigpawdesigns.com/funfaabca.html For this info, check out more fun facts about cats there!

And now, a couple of fun facts about, MY favorite, dolphins!

They can jump up to 20 feet above water!

The dolphin can live to be 50 years old!

Their brain is bigger than the monkey!

They have 100 teeth!

Thanks to : http://library.thinkquest.org/J002260F/DolphinsFun%20Facts.htm!

Dad,

I Love and miss you, Everyday your gone I know is a day closer to you being home where you belong, Stay safe and hurry home! Missing my cowboy dad.

The worlds smallest

Tonight I'm doing my blog later than usual, most of my friends are offline so I'm multi tasking.

So, tonight I'm going to tell a little bit about the worlds SMALLEST animals! Maybe even the worlds largest.

At 1.4 pounds and 4.9 inches tall, Ducky, a yappy short-coat Chihuahua from Charlton (Massachusetts, USA), holds the Guinness World Record for the world's smallest living dog (by height). Ducky succeeds Danka Kordak of Slovakia, a Chihuahua who measured 5.4 inches tall. The smallest dog ever, according to Guinness, was a dwarf Yorkshire terrier who stood 2.8 inches tall.

Leptotyphlops carlae is the world's smallest species of snake, with adults averaging just under four inches in length. Found on the Caribbean island of Barbados, the species --which is as thin as a spaghetti noodle and small enough to rest comfortably on a U.S. quarter-- was discovered by Blair Hedges.

On January 2006, the world's smallest fish was discovered on the Indonesian island of Sumatra: a member of the carp family of fish, the Paedocypris progenetica. It is the world's smallest vertebrate or backboned animal; only 7.9 mm (0.3 inches) long.

The title, however, is contested by 6.2 mm (0.2 in) long male anglerfish Photocorynus spiniceps (not technically a fish but a sexual parasite) and the 7 mm (0.27 in) long male stout infantfish Schindleria brevipinguis.

The little horse was born to Paul and Kay Goessling, who specialize in breeding miniature horses, but even for the breed Thumbelina is particularly small: she is thought to be a dwarf-version of the breed. At just 60 lb and 17-inch tall, the five-year-old Thumbelina is the world’s smallest horse

Thats just four of what this amazing site :http://www.oddee.com/item_96492.aspx Had posted, check it out! It even provided pictures of the animals! Its pretty neat!

So, the largest?

Say hello to this gargantuan specimen named Hercules, purportedly the Guinness Record holder for World's Biggest Dog. Hercules is an English Mastiff and has a 38 inch neck and weighs 282 pounds.

With "paws the size of softballs", the three-year-old monster is far larger and heavier than his breed's standard 200lb. limit. Hercules owner Mr. Flynn says that Hercules weight is natural and not induced by a bizarre diet: "I fed him normal food and he just grew, and grew, and grew”.

Radar, a Belgian draught horse, is the World’s Tallest Living Horse. This huge horse, at 6ft 71/2in from hoof to shoulder, is from Mount Pleasant, Texas. At 2,400lb, he has a giant appetite to match, putting away 20 gallons of water a day and 18lb of grain.

As big as a small elephant, Big Cow Chilli and he's described as a gentle giant. Chilli the giant bullock stands at 6ft 6ins and weighs well over a ton. Despite his grand stature, Chilli only grazes on grass during the day and enjoys the occasional swede as a treat.

The Liaoning Provincial Agricultural Museum is appealing to the Guinness Book of Records to recognise a 900 kg (1984 pounds) pig which died on February 5 as the biggest pig ever. When the pig died it was 2.5 metres long, had a waistline of 2.23 metres and a tusk of 14.4 centimetres long. According to XU Changjin, a farmer of Wafangdian city, the pig was only 5 years old. He kept his pig in a good built sty and gave it quality food all its life.

those were only four of 9 of the largest animals, thanks to :  http://www.oddee.com/item_96634.aspx For providing 9 and pictures!

The worlds skinniest woman, im throwing in for the heck of it.

The World’s Skinniest Woman Is American, Eats Junk Food Every 15 Minutes

Congrats, America. We all may be fat, but we're also home to Lizzie Velasquez, the Texas woman who weighs only 60 pounds.  and must eat every 15 minutes to stay alive thanks to a rare condition she's had since birth. For some reason Velasquez, a 20-year-old communications student, has become a media sensation in Britain, which has covered her story extensively in recent days.

Check out the rest of her story here:  http://gawker.com/5575466/the-worlds-skinniest-woman-is-american-eats-junk-food-every-15-minutes

Pregnant at age five

Well last night I told everyone the youngest I had heard of being pregnant was twelve. It WAS the youngest I HAD heard of....Check this out though.

Lina Medina born September 27th 1933. This young lady starting having her first menstrual cycle at the age of eight months. Her periods became regular three years of age. From the looks of this....From what my mom found for me last night this young girl was pregnant at the age of five years old.

Medina was brought to a hospital by her parents at the age of five years due to increasing abdominal size. She was originally thought to have had a tumor, but her doctors determined she was in her seventh month of pregnancy Dr. Gerardo Lozada took her to Lima, Peru, prior to the surgery to have other specialists confirm that Medina was pregnant.

Five years old? Are you kidding me? First of all WHO was the babies daddy? At five, Lina was more than likely raped. That's what I'm assuming at least. This poor girl was lying on an operating table, having a caesarean section done to deliver her own child at the age of five.

Medina's son weighed 2.7 kg (6.0 lb; 0.43 st) at birth and was named Gerardo after her doctor. Gerardo was raised believing that Medina was his sister, but found out at the age of 10 that she was his mother. He grew up healthy but died in 1979 at the age of 40 of a bone marrow disease.

I will provide the link here to the rest of Medina's story: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lina_Medina

Now, that being said, what is the OLDEST age to have given birth?
What I'm seeing is mid SEVENTIES! Yes, it happens. And yes its an amazing thing.

Now, the woman with THE most children?

The woman who gave birth to 69 children in the 17th century Russia had given birth 27 times in her marriage. Each time she gave birth AT home without the help of anyone but neighbors when the midwife wasn't available.  Want the rest of the story? Check it out here:  69

Dad,

I love and miss you so very much, I know you didn't want to read about some women giving birth, but it amazed me! lol I love you, stay safe and hurry home my amazing hero

Careers as teens

As we all know the times are changing and the laws go with it.
More and more teens are being hired at places such as Pizza Hut and McDonald's.
This is great for us teens, it teaches us responsibility and about money and savings.

As is stands, being a young writer I feel, amazed to be "Working" this young. Although, if I were working at such places as I had listed, it would yes make me feel responsible, but not as much as I do now.

Even more what amazes me, is how teens are getting jobs like me, being famous for what they do.
Acting, writing and singing. So many teenagers are doing those things, because yes they are good at it.
Why do THEY do it? Most of the time? Its for money and fame. So many people, in acting and singing start out way young, im talking from as young as five, sometimes younger.

Once they hit their mid teen years they start letting it go to their heads. They start buying drugs with their money. They start singing and acting ONLY because they know THEY can cause drama in the media and EVERYONE will watch it.

Also there are more teen PARENTS now days. It's everywhere, your cousin, your daughter, your sisters and neighbors are getting pregnant at earlier ages. TWELVE being the youngest I've heard SO far. Yeah, TWELVE! Your children are learning this, from you, your friends, their friends, their teachers, television, and music. It's pretty ridiculous.

I LOVE kids, always have and always will, I would NEVER even have it be a possibility to have kids, as a teen! It's hard, and then you can't go to college and get great jobs. If you do get lucky enough to make it to college, often times you drop out within the first semester because, you can't raise a child AND go to school, AND work (Let's face it, college, new baby you have to work) All at the same time!

Careers for teens....Yeah, there's a problem.... You see teens should work, they COULD possibly get into great jobs rather young, only.....The problem again with drugs, and even underage sex (Which leads to teenaged parents often times) The jobs go to their heads. Why? Their parents are the problem 99% of the time. Children now days are, being fed, bathed, given a bed to sleep on, school and thats about it.

SO many kids aren't even getting that! You hear more and more every day of a new kid killed by their supposed mom or dad. It's sick to hear, yet we have to hear it everyday. Parents who DO let their kids live, often times just DON'T CARE how they are raised. Therefore, underage drinking, sex and drugs are the result.

Well, I've rambled enough, here's a few poems for my dad......

Fighting A war.

The day's all pass in suspicion and fear when you aren't near.
I miss hearing your soft whispered tone by my ear.

I can still feel your touch even when we're half a world apart.
I know you have to fight, I know you see the ugly sights, Still you have my heart.

The Nights I lie awake and think about the war going on.
It's like a head banging rock song.
The singer knows the words, the audience is left to wonder what it is that is being sang so loud.
I know you know the words we speak, I know the things, you shouldn't have to see, Still I am So Very Proud.

I know the day, you arrive in peace, You will stand beside me and rest finally.
The day we get to hold each other tight I know we will finally get some sleep.
What you sing so loud and clear, is like a slow country song, the words mean everything, the singer means more.

Tomorrow is another day, you have to play.
With your big army guns and your missiles  and more, The water you get comes from the shore.
You never would have thought A little boy playing in mud and muck would end up fighting a war.
You never would have thought that, playing with that water gun, would end up fighting in the sandbox.

Its not a pretty sight, the things that you fight for, I know that one day, you will be home.
Safe.
Forever.

Until That Day, I want you to know, everything about you, makes my heart glow.
Everything you do, for me and this country, I appreciate the sacrifices you make.
Each and every day.

Fighting a war, you shouldn't have to fight.
~Faith Rose~

Love is sweet, Love is real.
I know the sweet way that I feel.
I have had many loves until a special one came along.
I never knew true love, it never lasted for long.

I know the way I'm supposed to feel.
I know what I am supposed to hear.
Now I'm done looking now I don't care.
I have the one I need right here.

I can feel your breath on my neck, I can hear you tell me It'll all be okay.
When I need a body guard I know you'll be right here.
When I need a soul mate I know you are mine.
I know this may sound crazy.
I know this may be weird.
But what I am about to say comes from the bottom my heart, the heart that you have.

You are my best friend.
You are my soul mate.
You have my heart.
You can take my soul.
I want you now.
I want you tomorrow.
I want you as long as god will let me have you.

I love you sweet.
I love you slow.
You make me complete.
You make me glow.

Love is sweet, Love is real.

New years

The new year will be here shortly. I must say this year has been the best year I can remember.

I'm certain 2012 will bring just as much (If not more) Joy and happiness this year brought.
Many people make new years resolutions, some that get accomplished and some that don't. This coming year I plan to have accomplished a lot, I hope to have gotten my book complete and hopefully published, I hope to stop my bad habit of biting my finger nails.

I also hope to continue practicing on writing poems. Also I want to lose at least 10 pounds by mom and dads wedding. This year brought knowledge and happiness and bravery into my life, I have always appreciated troops, now I have a higher respect for them, and their families too. Being a daughter of a troop I realize the families and friends go through as much grief as the troops them selves.

This coming year (2012) I will be fifteen, another year older. My dad will be coming home to us sometime in 2012 and life will continue to get better from there. Surprisingly most days have passed fairly quickly, though I still think about dad and the fact that he is away, and it is very tough on us all some days are easy, easier than others at least.

It does help that now I can talk to my dad on Skype when he gets a free minute. I'm loving my new laptop he bought us for Christmas. He bought my sisters and I one for each of us, to go along with that I also got a new camera and headphones.

Also I am allowed on Google now so I can research things for my novels. I have a bigger book project starting after dad goes back overseas thankfully it will be a time period of six months that I have to accomplish it in. I hope to have my small book wrote and edited in February and I have two books that I had started before this small contest that I still need to get done.

Needless to say I have a lot of writing to do, I also have a wedding to attend (I can't wait!) I'll be adopted later in the year or early in 2013 by my wonderful dad and my family will finally be a big wonderful full family.

Dad,

I love and miss you and I hope your new year goes as easy as it can being over there, I thank you very much for continuing to show your love for us even as you aren't here too see us, I do miss your hugs and I miss hearing your laugh, stay safe my cowboy hero dad, I love you.

Christmas wonderland

As the night drags on I wait Christmas Eve. Tomorrow I will get to see my uncle Jay and aunt Diane again and hopefully meet my moms baby brother, my uncle Charlie. My dad wishes he could meet him, and I wish dad was here to share that amazing day with us. He instead is overseas rebuilding peoples homes, work places and so on.

I have a lot of reasons to be happy as I have a lot to be thankful for. My dad is a true hero and a bright soul.
My sister (Both but mainly my youngest) is super excited for Santa to come! I also can't wait, I can't wait though, the most to see what dad got us for Christmas. I also can't wait to see my sisters faces, it's always so amazing, we always smile, but at Christmas time our lives are, more joyful.

The bad fades to a light that leaves us all happy for one day. I'm happy all the time really, only a part of me is somewhere else, Lea and grandma and grandpa said earlier I was kind of grumpy, I have a right, 1 I'm a teenaged girl, hormones are CRAZY lol 2, It's pretty much Christmas, will be soon at least, and my dad isn't home to receive the hugs I wish I could give and he can't enjoy moms amazing ham and turkey.

I know it sounds like all I'm doing is complaining and making this Christmas seem like I'm "Not in the spirit", I am in the spirit really, I'm so excited, I'm close to bouncing up and down, I WANT my gifts, the biggest gift I get every year is my family, this year I've had the blessing to have a bigger fuller family.

I believe things happen for a reason, I believe things didn't work out for my mom and biological dad for a reason, because god gave my mom, sisters and I a husband and dad we all needed so very much. I know that, somehow dad is overseas for a reason, though I may not like it, I support him. I'm a proud daughter, I have TWO parents that I can look up to and know if I follow in their footsteps I'll turn out just fine, they are perfect in my eyes.

Perfect, no such thing? Maybe not, but for me, they are the perfect parents FOR ME. They may be crazy some days, aren't we all? lol.

911 was a horrible day, one we will all remember, especially the soldiers and their families.

America we stand

America we stand America we breathe America all I feel and all I see.
The sky so blue the grass so green America we are free.

The day so blue when your not here The night so lonely and filled with tears.
I know you are, fighting for our country, miss America, we are here.

The song so loud the water so clear I wish that you could be near.
Today we wait worlds apart as the war goes on I can imagine your fear.

The flag so tall the bell so gold What you hold deep inside is very sad and very bold.
Our American soldiers, our hero's at war, our mothers and daughters, our fathers and son's.

Tonight the stars are very dim the dogs howl with pride and I wish I was by your side.
Tomorrow I will wake, and hope for your sake the war we all fight, deep inside will be small left over movements, from this big earthquake.

The moment I see you standing so proud in front of me on American ground I will bow and smile and say, Our great American your home to stay.

                              America we stand.    ~Faith Rose~

I will post pictures of my family from tomorrow on Monday.

Dad,

I love and miss you, stay safe and know I'm thinking of you, every moment, especially through the holidays. You are a hero, a dad, son, husband and a best friend. You are amazing and sweet and I'll always be thankful for that hot July day. Until later, I love you.

Christmas time is near

The season is here to be happy and jolly, Though it is not Christmas without family, and I have my mom, sister, grandparents and aunt but I'm missing someone very important in my life and family.

A song for the soldiers and their families. Its called "I won't be home for Christmas"

I bet right now the snow is flying, I bet right now the sky is dark. Where I am the wind is blowing and it keeps us worlds apart. Well I miss Christmas on the mountains, especially out here on the sand. Will you put the star on for me? This year I know you'll understand but I wont be home for Christmas cause you can count on me.
From bellow wood to the desert sands, where ever people aren't free. I won't be home for Christmas cause you can count on me. Have you put the lights out on the house? And did you set that angel scene?
And when you send out all those Christmas cards, would you sign my name for me? And don't forget to tell the story to the kids on Christmas Eve. And do your best to keep them happy, don't make no sadness over me. But I wont be home for Christmas, cause you can count on me. From bellow woods to the desert sands, where ever people aren't free. I won't be home for Christmas cause you can count on me, I won't be home for Christmas, cause you can count on me.

This song just goes to show that, so many families this Christmas are going without their deployed family members. The kids bright smiles won't be as bright this year, The men and women at home waiting for their soul mates returns will make them worried this holiday season. So many Husbands and Wives will be fighting a war while their partner is home celebrating the holidays without them.

I have taken up trying to write poems now as well. I will post my first poem, then my second.

All I See Is my first poem.

Everything about you, reminds me of the bright colors of spring.
The way you hold your big army gun, reminds me of the warm summer sun.
Your sweet smile and your brown hair, reminds me that, you'll always be there.
Today we stand, in a crowded room and the only person I see is you standing in front of me.
As you kiss me soft, and very sweet all I see in the future is you and me, you and me, we're all I see.
                                                                  All I See.

I thought of that one a couple of days ago, I enjoyed writing it and also enjoyed the reaction I got from my friends.

This next one I'm writing right now, and will complete it here.
It's called An Army Christmas.

As we gather around the Christmas tree all I can think about is you being over seas.
Bright smiles and warm hugs can not replace your wonderful laugh.
I know this year, you are fighting for, our very right to celebrate this night.

As I watch the children unwrap the gifts, you sent to them through the mail I close my eyes and want to die.
You can't be here to see their excitement.
We sit at the table, with your place set up, waiting for you to sit down.
You can't.
Life without you on this cold night, and thinking about the wars is such a fright.

Tonight when we turn out the light, our last moments thought will be you shining so bright.
An army Christmas is such a delight, because this time we have, a hero in flight.

Soon you will be, so close to me, I will be able to feel you breathe.
                                 An Army Christmas.

Believe it or not, I wrote both poems lol.

Our men and women are over seas, seeing death and we get to be home and see bright smiles and warming gifts.

This Christmas holiday, let's all take a moment to think about our troops, and maybe send THEM a gift or two of thanks.
http://operationwesendlove.blogspot.com/

Let's send our troops a small gift of thanks, their holidays deserve to be bright.

Dad,

I'm missing you very much, not a day goes by that I don't think of you. I love you very much, you are a true hero inside and out, All I want this Christmas, is my cowboy dad. Stay safe baldy.
